Glen Ellen
A small Wine Country village surrounded by vineyards, wooded hills and natural beauty.
Glen Ellen has long attracted buyers who want a quieter, more intimate version of Sonoma Valley. Its compact village center is surrounded almost immediately by vineyards, creeks, oak woodlands and hillside properties, creating a strong sense of connection to the landscape.
Homes range from cottages and mid-century retreats to contemporary estates and substantial country properties. Parcels can be highly individual, making access, sun, water, septic, fire resilience and topography important parts of the buying process.
The area also offers exceptional proximity to outdoor recreation, including Jack London State Historic Park, while remaining convenient to both Sonoma and Kenwood.
Landmarks & Points of Interest
A small, wooded village on the slopes of Sonoma Mountain, Glen Ellen is best known as the home of author Jack London and remains a quiet gateway to some of the valley’s most scenic land.
Jack London State Historic Park
The 1,400-acre “Beauty Ranch” where the author of The Call of the Wild lived from 1905 until his death in 1916. Both a National and California Historical Landmark, it offers more than 20 miles of trails through redwood groves and rolling hills.
Wolf House Ruins
The dramatic stone ruins of London’s 15,000-square-foot dream mansion, which burned to the ground in 1913 just weeks before he was to move in. The atmospheric shell still stands within the park.
House of Happy Walls Museum
Built by London’s widow Charmian, this museum houses artifacts and memorabilia from the couple’s travels and the writer’s life and work.
